2001 1500 Silverado 2wd 4.3 crank no start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A week ago my truck drove fine. Parked it
and 45 mins later it wouldn’t start. I have
replaced the rotor, distributor cap, plugs,
wires, and coil. I tested the ICM at the parts
store and it came up good. I also checked
the fuel pressure and it was 61 psi. I’m
getting a yellow/orange spark from plug wire
and coil wire. Fuel pump clicks and not
hums. I replaced the distributor a year ago.
Anyone have any clues on what to do next? I
have not swapped the crank position sensor.

Have you replaced the fuel filter? We were having starting issues with a S10 ZR2 with the 4.3 Vortex and they went away after I changed the filter. It was in line on the underside of the truck near the driver's side door on that truck...not sure on yours but just follow the line coming from your tank.

I have not. I know we are getting 61psi on the fuel pressure. But at this point anything would help.

Also check for spark at the plugs. You have swapped many electrical components already but if your plugs arent sparking you wont start. I thought perhaps an anti theft system was causing the problem but those typically allow the car to start briefly before it shuts the engine down.

I don’t have the anti theft system. Only thing on top of dash is the sensor for the headlights. I’m getting spark with the plugs also. It’s just like the coil wire spark. Yellow/orange spark.
