Will a 2001 Tahoe rear end fit a 2001 Silverado 1500?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 and the axle bearing cut a whole in the rear end
housing. So we are having to replace the whole rear end. Asking will a 2001
Tahoe rear end fit?

Possibly but make sure the gear ratio is the same.
The tahoe uses could springs and the silverado uses leaf springs. You would have to cut the spring perches off both and weld the silverado ones on
The tahoe uses "coil" springs. Autocorrect strikes again...
So they both have leaf springs but one has disc brakes and one drum brakes. Is that a easy change? Same gear ratio also
Did you ever get your question answered about the drum brakes versus disk brakes? I have an 07 Chevy 1500 2wd. I shattered the pinion gear and blew a hole in the rear end so I'm just changing it. But its got drum brakes and I cam find rear ends with disk brakes all day.
Is a 1998 Tahoe rear end the same as a 2001
