what is the capacity of transmission fluid needed to change the fluid ?

best thing i always do to prevent over filling is to add 4 qts, start the truck ,let it run a minute or two. shut it off , check the fluid level and add more if you have to until it's full.

Just put in a transmission. How many quarts should i add, or show up with? Not sure if the torc converter is empty or not.

Well vehicle has to be running to check it if it's not running that's not a accurate reading at all must be running add let dipstick sit for a 5 cnt check it add if needed your tranny pan by alone holds 7 courts and half ton or 3/4 pick up

It takes 13 quarts ,If you just rebuild your transmission add 6 quarts ,start your truck for a 30 sec to a 1min then shut it off ,add more fluid start it again go thru the gears with out moving, keep repeating till proper level is reached

I have a 2008. Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 with a 4.8 ls . Truck when stops drops out if gear. Truck stays running. Have to shift it down to 3rd then back up to drive .

Just put in exactly how much you take out . Some will be left in the tqconverter and you will never know exactly how much unless you take the trans off and pull the converter out and empty it . For those that are picky about all the fluid not being changed then all you have to do is drain it twice and put all new in its place. If your gonna do that then you may as well pull the trans put in a new converter and rebuild the tans . Especially if you have 2- 300,000 on the truck . You will need a rebuild after 275,000 anyway most likely . Especially if you have an early model
