2003 silverado stalling now dead

2003 Chevy silverado seemed to run fine all week.
All of a sudden it was dead jumped it Took it out at
night ran fine til it was put in reverse to back up. It
stalled and had to jump it again. New battery and
disconnected battery while running and it was
good, all lights still on so alternator is not the
issue. Turned it off and go to start it and its dead
again. I checked codes and a mass air flow code
came up but would this cause all that?
