pickup keeps dying

i have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 v8 has been running great until 2 days
ago . i started it around 5 am as always and it started but it would no longer idle
( this has never been a problem ) i have to rev it and keep revving it at stop sign
or whenever i must come to a stop it will die if i have to idle .
