How much can a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 tow? I am looking into buying a new horse trailer that has an empty weight of 4000. It will probably weigh around 6000 with the horses in it.

You should be ok towing that. As far as 4wd, anything is possible but it's not practical to convert it over. It's way cheaper to just buy a 4wd truck.
