Sounds like short or shorts in wiring. It may be ground strap loose or broken or could be a wire + positive touching the body or frame allowing volts to flow out shorting out other components grounded to frame or body. Also as a result you may have a few blown fuses. Someone will have likely use a volt-meter to track it down. Know that this is possible cause it may not be exact as I am not looking at the truck but yet suggesting it may need to be looked into. If it is electrical, it could be in actual wire harness or a electrical part too or at connection or bad dirty or rusted connections or a failing part.
A pop under the hood? Did you smell anything burning, did you look for signs of a possible short cut? Headlights working? No gauges working can result from a short in the fuel box located in the engine compartment.
No smell at all. Just the sound i didnt see anything either as i was standing a few feet from the hood while my friend cranked it.. just a sound. Thank you all for your responses. Anything helps. Our knowledge is very limited but my friend can figure out most things with a little guidance. Appreciate the time and help.
And yes headlights were working.
Btw the weird gauges not working thing has happend b4 when it wouldnt start, b4 replacing the fuel pump. Really odd. Thanks enginecreater for some insight on that.
