How do I fix my 4wd?

Asked by Guru9WBY4D Feb 25, 2021 at 06:26 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2LS Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Service 4wd shows up on my dash. Push button
for my 4wd doesn't work for some unknown
reason. I checked the fuse and its fine. I pull the
fuse and when I put it back in, the push button
lights up, but only lasts a couple sec and goes out.
What could be the problem?

Do the drive lights just blink? A fault code is stored in the Transfer case control module. Scan for codes, but sometimes it could be the grounds that are compromised. Go under the truck at the driver door and on the frame will be two bolts with ground wires attached. Clean up the contacts and check the wires for any fraying and retest.
