Popping noises

U joint maybe, or the driveshaft splines need lubing, there is a big TSB (tech service bulletin) for Chevy trucks (Silverado and Sierra 99 to 13) with rear end clunks, the fix is to upgrade the yoke. The TSB is "Document ID 1580377, Subject: Clunk, Bump or Squawk when Vehicle Comes to Complete Stop or Accelerating from Complete Stop or Accelerating from Complete Stop (Replace Rear Drive Shaft Nickel Plated Slip Yoke) #01(dash)04(dash)17(dash)004B" (sorry I had to replace the dashes due to this sites spam filter). WWW.gm(dash)trucks.com has several postings on the topic. I would suggest you take it to a dealer and inquire about that TSB and see if you qualify for a replacement, although it's not a recall issue.Lubing it may help for now, but the real fix is to replace it with the nickle plated yoke. Hope this helps.
