2006 Chevy Silverado

Asked by ASevilla1 Oct 01, 2020 at 11:57 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD 3LT Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 chevy Silverado working truck came with an ignition coil, or is there a
possibility that my mechanic changed it without telling me and replaced it with a
distributor?

1 Answer

I don't think you understand how ignition systems work. You don't swap a distributor for a coil. You need both for the engine to work. Not sure which engine you have but the 5.3L engine would have 8 coils.
