2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Went out of town for 2 weeks and went to start the truck and the battery was dead. Jumped it off and it ran and died a few seconds later. Tried to start it again.

Best have the battery and alternator checked out.
I replaced the battery and now it engages the starter for a few seconds and stops.
Sounds like a problem with the starter. You know you are getting juice to the starter by it engaging for a few seconds, I would take the starter out and have it bench tested under load to verify.
Replaced the starter now it acts like it's not getting any fire. I know it's getting fuel there is fuel in the fuel rail.
Squirt some starting fluid, or dump an 1/2 once of gas down it, see if it fires off. Then let me know if it fires.
Check for spark from the coil wire, take it off the cap side and lay it down by something metal and look for spark. Do not hang on to it or it will definitely let you know you are alive!
