Your OBD has detected a fault in the ABS, You don't have anti-lock brakes, and it's not about re-setting the ECU, it's about fixing what has faulted, then the light will go off. You probably need an OBD scan to eliminate a lot of guesswork
Thank you..so what's up w that one thing where u push the pedal down ìike 4 times and it resets something?
Oh and when we scanned it ..it didn't work. .maybe it was the scanner .but I don't know .
Been looking at several forums, and can't find anything about pushing the pedal. Lot's of disconnect battery for 30 minutes and will re set ECU to factory defaults. But there is disagreement on whether the 2001 is drive-by-wire...or do you have mechanical throttle linkage?
What I did find, in case you don't already know, there was a GM re-call for the ABS on the 2001 silverado--- http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2001/chevrolet/silverado/recalls/
Wow I did not know that...and not sure how to tell about throttle linkage
