Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2002 I got it off a friend in 04 ..I have maintained the truck since then 2 new hub housings synthetics in everything ..just the other day..it didn't want to crank was cold outside (14 I think) and it didn't want to crank..battery low..so I jumped it and when I did it would run fine for like 10 sec then rpms would drop and I could hear some (puffing in the exhaust)..so I put foot to her and she slowly reved up and went running like normal..as I was waiting for a couple of ppl to get there..i reved it a few times to make sure it was running ok..when I did the speedo would rise when I reved.. so i headed out it ran fine until i got to a 2m bridge with a incline..got 3/4 up it and truck started bucken ..i put foot to it and got to the top and half way down other side then it cut off..hasn't cranked since..im thinking fuel pump..would like some opinions before i start out

Take your battery out and put it on a charger. See if it will even take a charge. If it charges up fully, put it back in the truck and see if she fires right up. If it starts right up with a fully charged battery, I would suspect that it's not the fuel pump, but the battery itself. If a battery goes totally dead in the vehicle, your vehicle will die out. I just went through that whole deal with my kids car a while back. Car would start if you jumped it. But as soon as you shut it off, it wouldn't start back up again to save your life. New battery, problem solved!

Ok, so she cranks over and over but no fire? First see if you have a good spark. If no spark, I would suspect a coil issue. If spark is good, the next thing would be fuel pump. Put a screw driver to the bottom of the fuel tank and put your ear on the end of the screw driver. Have someone turn the key, Do you hear the fuel pump humming? If not, your pump is gone.
