Does the light come on when the other doors are opened? If none of the doors turn the dome light on, look for a button below the headlight switch. It's the dome override button. If it's just the drivers door that's the problem then the way to fix it is look in the wire loom rubber boot between the door and the body for a broken wire. If no broken wire, then it's probably the door latch. The switch for the door light is integrated into the latch.

I have the same issue. I'll look for the broken wire. I also have an issue that 50% of the time when I turn off the truck and open the drivers door; the radio continue to play. What's up with that? Thanks rich

The radio continuing to play after the door is open means the switch inside the door latch is bad. All the new vehicles are this way.
