Boing noise turning left in a 2000 4x4 Chevy tracker
Asked by Lyn Feb 15, 2015 at 04:04 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Tracker 4-Door 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
It's quite loud only drivers side does it. I'm
assuming it's some sort of suspension
problem not sure what. Trying to diagnose
before I take it any where so I sound like I
know what's going on....for the most part.
I have basic mechanical knowledge, have
driven a lot of beaters and worked on them
myself when I could. Money is always an
issue......single parent yadda
yadda....always try to get my own parts etc.
If you need more diagnostics Lmk.
Grateful for any info, cheers.

first thing you need to do is jack that side up grab left to right on tire if it moves left and right other then normal movement possible tie rod ends but if you grab top and bottom of tire and it moves then it is ball joints or bearings if it is solid either way then look at struts
Thanks Shawn I will do that tomorrow.....I'll post how it works out. Thank you

It's most likely gonna be one of two things. It'll either be a bad Sway Bar End Link, or possibly a broke Front Coil Spring, or some sort of Coil Spring Problem. I've never seen Tie Rod Ends, Ball Joints, or Wheel Bearings make that sort of noise. The Sway Bar End Links, when broke, will usually make a bad thumping noise, but they could possibly make a boing. I'd about bet money it's gonna be something to do with a Coil Spring, be it a broke one, or a Strut Mount hanging up. Actually, it's probably gonna be the Strut Mount locking up, and not moving freely as you turn the wheel.
Well I did think it had more to do with that area ie; suspension of some sort, strut or coil. Thank you I will definitely be checking that out.
just repaired same noise last year .....sway bar link pins....
Did u find out the issue? I am having the same thing with my 2000 Tracker, only 2WD. Please let me know so I can head in the right direction with fixing my car!
