depends on the size of the engine, like a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder, or the liter size like a 2.4, 2.9, 3.0, 5.0, or 5.4L.
4.6 l takes 6.2 litres of oil
I am very confident that it will take 5 quarts...at least dont put more in it to begin with. put 5 in, crank it up and let it run for a min. wait 5 min, check it and if it isnt full add as needed
In my 03 manual it says for all 4.6L motors it has a 6 quart capacity.
im running the same engine as you and ill tell ya that its a little strange... it really ends up depending on how much of the oil you got out... if its on too much of a slant the pan doesnt empty fully... drives me batty somtimes... if its dry i wouldnt doubt 6qts... but sometimes it only takes 4.4l (one jug of mobil 1...) really though put in 4 l then add it quart by quart untill your dipstick says ur there... then make sure to fill ur filter by running it and then top it up again... DONT PUT IN TOO MUCH>>>!!!
i hate people like you... 04 GT 1 engine... (and you didnt even list it...)
with filter, put in 5,crank ,idle until oil pressure comes up,turn off,let drain down into crank case.a minute is long enought, check dip stick level.
My 2004 4.6 used 6 quarts depending on the size of the filter
4.6 liter takes 5.25 recommended from ford mechanic.
