My Mustang won't start
Asked by MustangFun Nov 06, 2017 at 03:01 PM about the 2006 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
At first, the car stalled and shut down. It restarted
and shut down after I drove it a few feet. Now it
don't start at all. It tries to but doesn't. No check
engine lights, nothing. Changed the MAF sensor,
plugs, wires, ignition coil, EGR valve, Crank Position
Sensor and thermostat w/housing because I saw
the thermostat leaking due to broken housing. Car
didn't overhear during this ordeal. Still not good.
Any ideas?

You need to determine if it is getting fuel and what the fuel pressure is. How much fuel is in the gas tank? Do you operate it frequently on 1/4 tank or less? Do you hear the fuel pump start to run just after turning key to run?

Thanks for responding. It's my daughters car and she does frequently run it very low. I also changed the fuel filter and I do hear the humming sound when I turn the key.

The fuel filter was actually very clean. Also, when I removed the old one, I didn't get a significant amount of fuel as i would've expected. It was minimal. She has 1/3 tank at present
If you can hear the fuel pump it is likely still good. Running around with under 1/4 tank is hard on the fuel pump. Take it to a mechanic as throwing parts at it is expensive.

I know. if I could drive it I would. Have a mechanic coming to my home tomorrow. Thanks
