You have to remove the transmission pan as there is no drain plug. Then replace the filter located inside the pan install a new pan gasket and reinstall the pan being careful not to overtighten the pan bolts. This is an easy, but messy job. Be sure to use the proper transmission fluid when refilling it.

I wanted to know if some of you have already replaced the 3.0 engine with a 4.0 sohc ford explorer? Thank you again for your answers. Sylvain
