where is this part located in -or- out  of the transmission?

In. You need to drop the trans pan and drain the fluid to get to the solenoid pack (There are 2 solenoids in the 4R70W).

How do you tell if it's a 4R70W? The whole tranny doesn't need to be dropped, just the pan,correct?
