automatic w 4 wheel drive mine's a 2002 v6. it was going in reverse... but I learned if I reved the rpms high enough it caught and took off forward I was ecstatic i thought I may have loosened something and everything was go Going to be ok. I drove it to the end of my neighborhoodand it suddenly would not go forward anymore. once it caught second gear it shifted fine but it still wouldn't move after my test drive even if I put it in drive 2...idk. so I put it in reverse and drove it back up forwards my home I got about half way back and then even my reverse gave out??? I'm stumped any help would be appreciated from youalso my trans fluid is pretty brown. I didn't ask the first questionin this log
Did urs start again mine just did that and wont go in 1st or 2nd or drive just reverse
Curious as well. Mine seems to go into gear but it’s like it’s stuck in low and i can only go very slowly. Seems to shift smoothly but then just doesnt really want to move. It was fine i parked in a parking place put in reverse and it is like i was trying to reverse with the brakes on and ebrake. I limoed it home but I dont want to go into the mechanic blindly. I have an 08 ford escape 4wd not 4x4. (Sadly) anyway any answers would be helpful.

I own a 2006 ford escape and mine would go into gear and not move. I'm also a mechanic with that being said it was still a challenge to fix. I started out with the output shaft speed sensor also known as the oss sensor and when it would not work, I installed the input shaft sensor/ iss speed sensor. I still couldn't get it to work. I finally took out the transmission checked it and noticed everything was fine and installed it back and started looking at the tcc solenoid transmission torque converter clutch solenoid and I replaced it and that fixed my vehicle. I hate how mechanics on here will give people answers when they know they would have to look at the vehicle but still tell people messed up answers just to make a dollar. Guys they're two things it could either the transmission filter is blocked up even though they say its a lifetime filter its not or the tcc solenoid needs to be change also known as the torque converter clutch solenoid and it only cost 41.99 to buy. I know on extremely rare cases the actual torque converter needs to be replaced but only do that when you try the first 2 and fail.
