Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2003 expo 4.6 started dying and then
restarting during acceleration. It started
saying check charging system so i
discovered the alternator was bad. So i
changed it. Charges fine now but after it
gets to operating temp it starts dying and
jolting again. I have changed three coil
packs, timing chain gears chains and guides,
and now im stuck. The rpms go to 0 then go
right back up. Need help

Could be a bad coolant temp sensor, get a code reading and type it to me, i can only further asdist your trouble through code retrieval.

Sounds like it is vapor locking check underneath vehicle to see if any part of the heat shield ( this separates the exhaust from the gas line to keep the heat from exhaust from getting to gas line causing vapor lock ) is missing.
Well i thought that. Would a stopped up catalytic converter make it shut off when accelerating?

Could be depending on how clogged up it is but usually a clogged converter you slowly lose power not completely shuts the vehicle down when accelerating.
I noticed today that the cruuse control light comes on when it dies and comes back. Funny thing is the cruise dont work
