i have a 2004 ford expedtion 4x4 5.4l i found a 1997 ford expedition 4x4 5.4 i need to know if the transmission in the 97 wil work in my 04

Those are two different cars. The 97 is truck based and the 2004 have the IRS and I believe they have different transmissions as well. Your best bet would be to get a Ford rebuilt transmission installed. They have a 3 year unlimited mile warranty and come with a new converter and Ford replaces ALL the electronics which most rebuilders don't do. I just had my f150 trans replaced and I recommend going with the factory rebuilt trans.
