2002 Ford explorer v6. It turns off while driving.
Has no more that 2000rpms. And it also turns off
when I put it in to drive or reverse. It looses power
when I put it to drive or reverse.

No codes , it has been happening for about 2 weeks now.
I see two possibilities. A bad idle control valve and a plugged up catalytic converter.
Do I have to replace those even if there is no check engine light?
I recently change 2 vacuum hoses to a slightly bigger size, does that have anything to do with my problem of shutting off when I switch to drive or reverse . Or with having no more than 1500 rpms?
Make sure there is no vacuum leak. The cat can be tested for excess back pressure at a muffler shop.
