At a lost dash not working

Ok, so my dash, radio, power windows, and interior
lights all quit working. I was told to changer fuses
#17 bother unfer the hood and under the steering
dash which I did and nothing. Was then told to
disconnect battery for a few hous and maybe that
would work again nothing.. Im a recent widow of a
teenage sports crazy preteen.. taking this to the
dealership is not an option for me and I'm not
exactly car savy  if you will.. SO PLEASE HELP..
something maybe I can do or tap or hell anything,  
no idea how much gas I have nor how fast I am
traveling.. I am using an app to track my speed but
this is a real pain! Any and all advice welcomed!

If you are not car savvy there is not much you can do. You will have to begin checking for voltage and certain locations. If you do not know the basics of electric circuits, you cannot even begin checking for the root of the cause.

same issue, 2016 ford Explorer XLT. The only possible solution I have found is connecting a Bluetooth OBD II adapter. I don't know why but when I connect it, everything works but if I disconnect it, nothing works again. It seems there is a short circuit in the data link port under the steering column. Hope this helps.
