What engines are interchangeable with a 4.6l 4wd ford explorer engine?

After some searching, I found that the 4.0 will drop right in, the 5.0L will fit in bay but is a lot more work and money, needing many more parts to come with from donor car. Or if you buy a 5.0 crate engine, you will need more than comes with it. But if you have the funds it's a better engine. Especially the 5.0 Coyote, now THAT is a terrific choice.
