Rattle or Growl during slow acceleration

Asked by booker777 Aug 11, 2011 at 02:26 PM about the 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V6 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For about a year now our explorer has a growl/rattle when just start moving. (We bought it new and has 37000  miles ) The dealership service said it was gravel on top of the catelectic converter. They worked on it but it still does it. It does seem like it is near that location but with the reported transmission problems with this year - it makes me worry. Other than that it is and has been a great car.Does anyone have any thoughts?
