Hello,Love this Site! Say My Brothers Ford Explorer 2001 with 87,488 Miles is running fine!
However, When he first starts it up after sitting awhile "overnight" The Oil Pressure gauge stays
low! he'll let it run a few minutes and takes off after about 1/4 mile,to 1/2 and then it jumps up
too normal level, If he stops and runs in somewhere and starts it up, its fine! let it sit a cpl 3 hrs
and it stays low, then jumps up,any help? ideas?

see if a local electronics shop that does car starters, security systems, car audio ect... and take the dash cluster out and take a look at it. 90% of the clusters that we have come through our shop just need to have the stepper motor replaced for whatever gauge isn't working. The stepper motors usually run about 7 or 10 bucks. It's an easy fix. the part that will take the longest will be getting it out of the dash.

Ford went through A LOT of different oil pressure senders. Change it out and try it. I'll bet that it's ok. Very common failure.
