What would make my 2002 Ford Explorer Sport 4.0 run fine with 4 or5 stops and turning off of the engine then just chug when trying to start it on the 6th stop but won't start until about half an hoi

Possible cause, especially since it starts again after half an hour, is vapor in the fuel line. This used to happen in a Volvo 740 I used to have. It would run fine, but if I shut it off and then tried to restart it, it would sometimes give that "vapor-lock" response. Waiting half an hour worked, but so did a bottle of Heet or other gas-line moisture eliminator.

I have the same problem with mine also. 02 Explorer Sport 4wd 4.0...i had to spray about 3seconds of starting fluid in it to get it to start but ran fine then but, think I might just try a can of Heet in it...sounds like a good idea with the weather change and all. " Dsrtdweller"
