2005 ford 500 replaced Alternator and battery over charging

I have replaced the alternator as well as the battery in my daughters 2005 Ford
500. the car is overcharging the batteries and killing them. i checked the
voltage at start and its as high as 16.2 volts on a fully charged battery. what
else can be the issue? someone said computer maybe?

Sounds like a bad connection in the charging system. Check your battery cable connections at both ends. Make sure everything is clean and tight. Check the wiring at the alternator, same deal. Make sure everything is clean and tight. Check the wiring down by the starter. Again, make sure everything is clean and tight. If you find any loose connections or corrosion, especially green corrosion, that's where the problem is. Hope that helps! Jim
Checked. I was told a bad computer could be the cause. She is also having Dash board issues in the car but I am not sure if it's related to the voltage issues. Looking at replacement computers is confusing.
Kerry, I had a similar issue awhile back, it's posted on site here. But, replacing my battery and alternator my check charging system light be stayed on. So I went to a different mechanic, he said the alternator was bad, so he replaced it, and it's been fine. One thing also, he told me he was sent two bad alternators, and he returned, before getting a good one the third time. Good luck, John
Kasia, no I don't, sorry. I haven't had any charging issues since then. The only other thing I've done besides regular maintenance is I had to have the starter replaced. My 2006 Ford five hundred has about 150,000 miles. I bought it new, and I still like it.
