Car could not start after check of the MAF and Coil of the front left spark plug, wrench light on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dear Guru,
My car (Ford five hundred 2006 SE trim)  had been hesitating and with erratic swing of RPM arm during idle, and sometime will push forward (like an engine surge) when stop for red light. So two days ago at night,
1. I checked the MAF. Seems in good condition. Put it back.
2. Removed the air cleaner outlet pipe. Put it back.
3. Took out the front left coil. In good condition. Put it back, Yet I FORGOT TO PUT THE POWER CONNECTOR BACK ON TO THE COIL.
THE next day, I rushed to send my kids to school and started the car, having forgot that the COIL IS NOT CONNECTED. The starter worked but the car could not start. After several trials, I remembered that the connector was not on. So I put in on. Yet the car could not start any more. The starter works well, yet just could not start the car!
Then I found the wrench light on the panel lit, indicating there is a throttle/power train failure.
It would be highly appreciated if you could help analyze the what caused this and advise me how to do next to get rid of the problem. At least I could start the car and let the dealership to have a thorough check.
Thanks a lot!
Jason

the throttle body needs to be replaced. Its common for that year model engine. Ive had some success cleaning the throttle body and reprogramming the pcm. But most of the time that is only a temporary fix and the car will be back but then again sometimes it will correct the problem. If i remember correctly the throttle body is a stupid amount of money 300-400 dollars or so dont quote me on that though i havent done one in a while. thats why most customers choose to try cleaning it and reprogramming the computer. best of luck to ya
