06' Ford Five Hundred #17 fuse (voltage regulator) keeps blowing
I have an 06' Ford Five Hundred SE that the battery light continues to come on directly after replacing voltage regulator fuse. Have replaced the battery and have had the alternator checked, both functional however the #17 fuse blows almost immediately after replacement leading me to think there is a short somewhere along the line. I am aware that the regulator is a built in part with the alternator and when the fuse is replaced and the motor is idling everything operates as should, however as soon as you put it into drive and travel a few hundred feet the fuse blows and the battery light comes right back on. Is there a common occurrence of certain areas of the wiring harness that are susceptible to rubbing and therefore shorting out or is there an issue here I am completely overlooking such as inline fuses and if so what are their common location?
