2005 Ford Taurus reversed polarity

Asked by Acnjsess9 Jun 05, 2019 at 03:25 PM about the 2005 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our son reversed the cables while jumping
his sister's car. That initially killed the battery
but after it was jumped it started right up
and drove normally for 3 1/2 days. On the
fourth day it started losing power on
acceleration but still got up to speed. The
next day my son was entering the highway
and the speed dropped to 25-30. It will no
longer drive faster than that. The rpms on
start up are normal until you rev the engine
then on each push it goes down and down
until it's around 2000. We have changed the
alternator and battery with no changes. We
get a charging system warning and a P6022
code. Any ideas before we try a new PCM?
