alarm system

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife doesn't run her car very often but starts it every other day for 15 to 20 min. She owns a 2005 ford tarus with built in alarm system that works 24-7. How often does she need to run the car to keep battery charged.

I think you should get a couple of battery tenders.

I would say once every two weeks or so should be good. If you live in a colder climate, once a week in the wintertime. I don't drive my 2000 Grand Prix very often. The battery is 2 years old. During the summer months I've gone as long as four weeks without running it with the security system active. From January thru March I put it in "dead" storage. I disconnect the negative battery cable for that time period. I've never had any problems with a dead battery. Hope that helps! Jim
