05 Taurus ignition cylinder

Asked by Squanto084 Jan 23, 2020 at 03:49 PM about the 2005 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I lost the chipped key on my 05 Taurus. I do
still have a non chipped key for it. I also have
a 06 taurus I use for parts. I switched the
ignition cylinders hoping I could start it that
way but no luck. Is there a way to get the 05
going without a dealership or locksmith? If so
what’s the best and cheapest way to do that?

If u have or know someone with a scanner with immobilizer or key learn that is one way..my grand am allowed my ECM to relearn the new ignition and key..if u look up on a Ford forum someone has had this issue because in the mid to late 90s until the present time immobilizers have been turning dark hair grey for 25 years
