05' Ford Taurus running rough

We got a 05' Ford Taurus less than a week ago.
Has been running ok since we got it. Now outta
nowhere, it is running VERY rough, spitting &
sputtering (sorry that's the only way I can think to
describe it ☺). No lights are on, and it acts like it
wants to die when we stop and accelerating it just
don't want to. ANY ADVICE or Suggestions would
be beyond appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would suspect bad spark plugs and/or coils. Is the check engine light on?
