enter code

Only the dealership can do it. I think it's the most annoying safety feature there is. I'd rather it just got stolen. The dealership has to reset the code and give you a new one.

u have to read through the owners manual and take the battery terminals off and the reattach after 20 or so minutes then replace and then turn the car on and put the code in again.

There is a code in the owners manual and it comes on a card the size of a credit card. It is a code that can only be used 5 times and then it automatically needs a new one. if you haven't used it more than 5 times then just enter in the code and it will unlock. If not, then take it to the dealership to get a new code.

Like the people before me said, its just a code. If you bought it used, there might be a code written on a sticker somewhere in the glove compartment. I have an S2000 and thats where mine was. My car gives you 9 tries to enter the right code before it locks up, at that point you have to disconnect the battery terminals for 60 seconds and try again. I didnt know you needed a new one after 5 times of use, but maybe its different in newer Hondas.

If you've lost the card, you can get the serial number of the radio by turning the radio off, then hold preset buttons 1 and 6 then turn the radio on, it will say UXXXX LXXXX upper and lower, and 4 numbers give these to the dealership and they'll give you your code.

Note:. Holding numbered buttons and such will not work on Honda's older than 2000. You'll need to pull the radio and get serial number. Believe me, Honda didn't make it easy either! My '94 Del Sol has little to no room for maneuvering and pulling dash parts and screws. All to find that the serial number doesn't match the VIN on file. Really???!!!! A huuuuge hassle to be able to use an obsolete cassette player? Gimme a break! Honda can suck it!

I have a 2011 Honda Civic that I have tried repeatedly to retrieve the serial number by turning the car to on, not starting the car, and pressing the 6 & 1 buttons and turning the radio on. All it ever says is enter code, and never gets out of that mode. I have tried hitting the enter (power) button twice, like I saw on one YouTube video, but nothing happens....Just turns the power of and on, and showing enter code. WTF

If you need the code for a Honda radio free, you can get these at www.freehondaradiocodes.com it is brilliant and only requires the serial number.

My stereo(2015 si touchscreen no navigation) locked itself while I was washing the car possibly because the water sets this handle sensors off and it may have thought someone was tampering with the car? After a quick Google search the first thing I tried worke,d simply resetting the radio by holding the power button down did the trick didn't have to enter any code. Do note that this will not work for everybody.
