Replace block or whole engine?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Crack in front of engine block next to freeze plug
and right of exhaust manifold. Crack happened due
to condenser fan going out and engine gettin too
hot. So my question.. can I get away with just
replacing block or do I need a whole new engine??

You can buy a short block and reuse your head after rebuilding it or buy a long block rebuild, your choice. Odds are the head warped so I would go the long block route.
