Am putting out 500.00 to have my head gasket replaced when he also found cylinder head
and engine block to be cracked,I love my car and want to keep it but were talking more
money, its a friend doing the work so it wont be as bad but cylinder head is another
500.00,is it worth it or better off getting whole motor or just retiring it?

With a cracked blocked you are going to have to spend at least $1500, even with friend doing it. Meaning entire engine. Then being that old it's just going to become more of a money-pit. yep...time for car shopping IMO

If the head and block are cracked chances are there is a lot more damage in the lower end. Bearings, rings etc. Look for a good used Civic and have it checked out. Hondas usually go for a lot of miles. 200,000 is not unusual and I've seen them go as much as 400000.
