I Just Got an Oil Change for my 2007 Honda Civic, there is a side oil container that should be changed every 2 years. What is this for and why don't they change it when you get an Oil Change?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Wondering what this side oil container is on my car according to the guy that
did an oil change. He said it should be changed every 2 years. What is this
side oil container in my car, and is this something that should be done when
you get an oil change?

there is no side oil container ...you sure it wasn't the antifreeze tank they were talking about...even if there was an aftermarket oil cooler tank- it is all connected to the main oil sump...

Thanks for the response. It sits in the corner of the car and the mechanic said I should have it changed every 2 years. This is news to me since I get oil changes every 5000mi. and hadn't had anyone say I had to have it changed in the last 7 years.

Can you see any writing on the cap of the 'container' and which corner are you referring to- driver or passenger side closer to headlights or closer to windshield? There is no "container" under the hood that has "oil" written on it, just an oil fill cap...The manual says brake Fluid should be changed every 3 years - the cap for brake Fluid should be in corner closest to the driverside windshield and you should be able to see 'brake fluid' on it if look at it closely- other item in non-Si model is power steering fluid which looks like a container but shoud be in the corner closer to the pasenger side....other item is engine coolant (antifreeze) with an overflow contianer - manual says first change at 10 years- there is a container for that usually closer to the headlights and the other item to change is tranmission FLuid - manual says change automatic trans fluid every 24 months but there is no contianer for trans fluid other than the transmission itself - better ask the mechanic to write it down/translate? maybe he said 'oil' but meant 'fluid' or coolant.?

Its on the passenger side closer to the windshield. I think its the anti- freeze you mentioned before. I will take a look when it light outside. Thanks for the response. I figured the guy was trying to get me to do something that was not necessary and I can save 45 bucks!
