There is no such thing as a fuel temp sensor, stop at your local garage and see if they can look up any TSB's on crank but no start on your truck, I wonder if your engine temp sensor is bad, it may say its way cold when its cold but when its warm enough out may still read low but not low enough that it over richens the air fuel mixture.
how is the idling? if its higher than it shud be i would suggest you check if the coolant temp. sensors are fine..
try replaceing your throttle position sensor, change fuelfilter, run a can of sea fome fuel injector cleaner in a tank of gas.
If you have a battery with low COLD cranking amps it would crank slowly and possibly cause it not to start.
temp sensor will not.cause it to start, sounds like your throttle position sensor is bad,is located on throttle body.
i have a 94 wrangler 4.0 and i had the same problem along with some slight missfireing(running ruff).thought fuel pump or other sensor or spark thing. it turned out two be the computor! i guess ontill 99 the comp. tend to emmit acids that make diffrant componets start failing as the board deteriates.same starting prob. as you thoughand it all stopped with new comp.
idle air control valve may be clugged ! clean it with t body cleaner...if not..idle was regulate by the iac valve via pcm via air temp sens n coolant temp sens..to know if the sensors gives the right data to pcm..plug obd scanner when engine was COLD n check if thoses sensors gives the SAME temperature..if not..replace the faulty sensor :)
many things can affect the idle..tps, iac, iat, ecs, EGR !
i would have your fuel pump checked. I just had a similar problem. Replaced the fuel pump and bam no more hard cold starts that drain the battery...unfortunately i have a hose with a little green plastic piece that holds it in place. Well, the plastic piece broke but i thought it was ok because the line felt like it snapped into place...so later i look under the car after i smelled gas and its completely off....and im getting like 7 miles a gallon. it sucks. I dont know what thats called. it connects on top of the tank next to the top of the pump assembly 1998 explorer 8 cylinder 2 wheel drive xlt i believe. if anyone knows what that is please email me @ skywalkermsr1@yahoo.com. Much thanks!
