Issue with 94 transmission

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The tranny will go in first gear until ready to shift down. Then it pops out of gear and won't
move until you turn the car off and start it back up again. Also, there is no reverse gear at
all. It was having an issue with not shifting down until you turned the car off and then back
on, but now this. It sounds more like a computer issue than a bad transmission. Any
thoughts/guesstimates on cost?

sounds like the release bearing is has exploded.doubt a computer problem.

Can't answer from experience as my GTC is a manual, not an auto. However, on a Volvo I used to own it was a solenoid failure caused something similar. Cost me £175 to have it changed in the shop. Certainly wasn't a computer fault.
