Why does my oil light come on when the oil level is fine?

Asked by migration_Laughey78 Feb 04, 2016 at 05:07 PM about the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When my engine temp is right in the middle, my oil light will come on then go off. I check my oil and it says its at a good level and I make sure I change my oil when I am suppose to. It only does this when the temp gets to a certain level.

Is the light for oil level or oil pressure? Low oil pressure is a serious problem so get it checked out.

Oil light comes on when in idle. Just did a oil change at jiffy lube two weeks ago. This also was happening before I did the oil change.
