Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so not so long ago, my timing belt on my
2001 pt cruiser went out. luckily my wife
wasnt going fast maybe speed limit under
25mph.car didnt want to start so my
mechanic told me it was the timing belt.
hes charging me $450 parts and labor. but
my concern is will the car run good after
the new timing belt goes in and water
pump. mechanic said he check the heads
and pistons are ok. there was no damage
what so ever. whats the chances it will be
ok.

yap it will, as long as you are sure the pistons did get the valves. if the compression is nice you will have a perfect car, just like it was before your timing belt issue

How can you check the compression of all the cylinders if the timing belt is broke? Some of the valves will still be open??
