P0551 power steering pressure switch

Asked by Lorelore Jul 31, 2016 at 02:09 PM about the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have this code on my 2005 PT cruiser. I had some
one tell me that not all PT cruisers have this sensor?
Is that true? It sounds like an easy fix from the
research I have done. I can't imagine not having
that switch and getting the code.

This switch is located on the Power Steering Rack assembly were the steering column goes into the rack. It is adjacent to 2 metal tubes and a rubber hose.Probably oil leaked into the connector defective pressure switch. NOT easy to ACCESS.

Thank you Auto_Centric! I was having my camshaft position sensor replaced and they said they couldn't locate it. I don't think they were looking in the right area. I will have someone fix it. Thank you again.

Welcome, once again service centers are LOSING.. when they can't perform the most basic repairs.
