OBD does not communicate. What would cause this?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Check engine came on and stopped by autozone to see what code would come up and
they couldn't get the OBD to communicate. Took it to our automotive repair shop and
they are having same problem. What would cause this?

Bad data link cable,from data link to Ecm.
