I went to put my PT Cruiser in park today and it wouldn't go in gear and I kept pushing down on the gear button and it finally went into park but it silver button stayed pushed in--key wouldnt go out

Once you shift into park, pull back slightly on the gear shift without touching the button; the button should pop up, which will allow you to remove the key. Outside of performing this small task, you may have to take it to an accredited repair shop you trust, and let them have a go at it. Sorry I can't be of greater help.
