My car broke

My 2005 PT Cruiser was driving fine, then I came to a stop light and it wouldn't
move. It died, when I tried to start it again it would start but as soon as I put it in
gear it died again, also the check engine light is now on. Any ides?

You might have a dirty Fuel filter The job of the fuel filter is to keep debris out of the gasoline in a car. When a fuel filter becomes dirty or clogged with debris, the flow of gasoline through the car is impeded, and the fuel pump ends up working harder. Hesitations in the engine are a direct result of the gasoline flow being impeded.

I will give that a try. It also happened when it was pouring rain and I thought maybe something got wet.
