Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If I wanted to replace the BR/GY wire(feild wire) to the Alternator in my 2005
Dodge Grand Caravan, where would I run it? Would I just go from the Alt. to
the correct pin in the PCM? My PCM is apparently good and my Alternator
tests fine, so it has to be a wire, right? All connections and plugs look great.

Use a voltmeter to confirm the wire is bad it may not be bad. Ohms or resistance setting. Low reading or zero is good, a high or reading going up and down is a bad wire, disconnect it too as the component hooked to it may be open or shorted and throw off the test results.

I had found one of the wires coming from the alternator at the fuse box. when I tested that one it had a very low reading, something like; .002. I have to find the other wire though. It should be going to the PCM?

I don't understand how it can be anything but the wire. Everyone tells me that if an alternator goes bad, then it is bad and it doesn't work sporadically. I had ordered a new PCM flashed for my vehicle and when I installed it, I got the light on and the battery not charging. So, if it is not the alternator, and it is not the PCM, what else could it possibly be??

Well a alternator like any other can and do go out at once but often times this just is not the case, they can and do go out or bad in different ways. I think it is possible the alternator is bad or battery terminals or terminal wires bad or corroded or grounds to frame from engine or battery can to this too.

A alternator can go out slowly and put out low voltage first to lower voltage or Intermittently before going kapuut. Have it load tested and tested more than once. I seen many bad alts pass load test a few times but may help if it does not. The .002 reading in ohms is good.

Check battery too if all cells are good a fully charged battery should show 13.6v anything lower than 13 say in the 12v or lower range means a bad cell and with engine running at the battery you should see constant 14+volts-15v all the time, no up and down.
