Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The van is shut off with the key out, and the rear hatch dings and buzzes and tries to open and close continuously.  I open it manually at the back and cloe it tight, seems fine. Then after about 3 or 4 minutes, it starts up again.  This continues until the the battery is dead.  Help!

I had the same problem tonight ( the night before Easter 2018) I have an 05 caravan and the trunk kept popping and draining my battery. I'd go out and shut it, a few minutes later my dome lights were on again. I read that the latch is closed when voltage is applied and the latch opens when voltage is removed. So I started at the source, I i decided to clean my battery teminals (which had quite a little bit of corossion on them) as soon as I lossened the bolt on my ground terminal the trunk popped and the dome lights came on. I found the problem, I just cleaned the terminals and hooked the battery back up and the trunk stayed latched, and the dome light has yet to come back on. Hope this helps someone, I know it's not going to be the answer for everyone, but it worked for me.
