PCM bad or something else?
Asked by GuruZL4Y4 Oct 31, 2017 at 06:33 AM about the 1993 Dodge RAM Van B250 Cargo RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Was not getting any fuel or Spark no power to coil
or injectors. After replacing a lot of things and
three days of work found out the ASD relay was
bad. Put in new ASD relay and it fires right up. Now
I left the wires that run to the coil laying on engine
block well the manifold. They got hot obviously
and melted I smell something burning like
Electronics and Van shut off now we are back to
square one. My engine light does not come on at
all it did before when you first turn the key on.
Check all my relays on my fuses and they are good.
But same issue no spark no fuel no power to coils
or injectors. Is it my PCM?

depending on what current those wires were carrying one may have grounded out and toasted something , I would think if you scan for codes a bad ECM should show up along with any trouble the burnt wires caused
Im not sure.. All i know is there is no power to the coil, Distributor, position sensor or injectors. Is there a fuse to the PCM that might have blown. Also there is no engine light coming on when u first turn the key on? So coil wire was on manafold heat melted wire and i could smell something burning. All it does now is turn over. No fuel pump engaging or spark or power to coil and such.
Does an older style 93 dodge D250 van have a code scanner hook up?

if it has a computer then there's a way to read the codes but I don't know how , look for the OBD port under the dash , I would concentrate on the wires that were burnt and what ever circuits they were on , a wiring diagram and multi tester would help , auto electric has surprises and complexity for me as well

Check fuses. If it is a 12vt circuit, it’s fused.
